Fireworks         mp3
lyrics by Katherine / music by Katherine and Alice

If your head were on my chest
Then I'd explode in happiness
And you'd be covered in blood
Skin can't contain my love
My stomach's dangling from the lamp
My fingernails are on your pants
I hope you don't go bowling
'Cause in your shoes lies my colon

Put your head on my chest
And I'd explode with happiness
Bloody fireworks to celebrate my death

Mop my intestines off the floor
Scrape my eyeballs off the door
My belly button can be of use
To replace the missing one on your suit
I understand if you don't want to come near
Don't wanna make me have a fit
But I assure you, there are worse ways to die
Than exploding like this

Sometimes I wish that I didn't exist
That I was nothing ever nothing never
Didn't think and could just sleep forever
Oh! This world could be so much better

If you held me things would be much better
But I'd die, and my blood would be redder
Than the hair of an Irish Setter
All over your woolen sweater

Put your head on my chest
And I'd explode with happiness
Bloody fireworks to celebrate my death

I wrote this song while lying on my back staring at the buckeyes hanging from my ceiling at Harkness co-op at Oberlin College in 2007.
